La Pointe des Pavis summit

    La Chapelle-d'Abondance

The Pointe des Pavis, is a minor summit, little visited, overlooking Lake Darbon, whose sharp peak offers yet a magnificent panorama on all its slopes.

The Pointe des Pavis is at the very heart of the northern Chablais area and suffers somewhat from the comparison with its larger more reputable neighbors, the Roc du Chateau d’Oche to the north and the Cornettes de Bise to the south.

This very beautiful mountain, which we often go around on the “three-pass walk”, passing through the Bise, Pavis and Floray passes which surround it, is nevertheless worth a visit for the beautiful views offered on the Bise valleys, Darbon lake and its big neighbors.

It is accessible from the Col de Bise where a path begins in the west which skilfully weaves between the rock bars, passes east of the highest point to return to the summit by the other side with a dizzying passage at the end the northern slope. It is possible to cross to the Floray pass by passing the impressive (seen from Bise) summit W of the Pavis. Another crossing leads further north to the Col des Pavis, by relatively gentle slopes but devoid of paths. These two crossings can be done in both directions.
